Predicting Major Adverse Cardiac Events (MACE)
Project Type
Healthcare
Patients presenting at the Emergency Department with a suspected MACE (heart attack) typically undergo two Troponin tests before MACE can be ruled out with a high probability. These tests are taken 90 minutes apart and by the time the results come back, a patient has usually waited 3 hours.
The question was asked whether we could surpass the EDACS-ADP confidence scoring using Machine Learning.
Our results were:
- 33% improvement with two Troponin tests
- slight improvement using only one zero-hour Troponin test, meaning a potentially significant improvement in throughput times
suffering a suspected Major Adverse Cardiac Event (heart attack) sometimes need to wait
